Parking Scheme & Sign Problem

Hi All,

My council has recently introduced a parking scheme to prevent local workers parking in the streets surrounding the town centre. Whilst I don't particularly like this and resent paying for permits, I understand the reasons for it.

There appeared to be very little consultation with the locals prior to this scheme to be introduced and whilst I'm sure the council would claim due processes have been adhered to, is there any way I can check? I have been living there for 3 years and saw nothing about it prior to receiveing the letter informing me it was being brought in.

More importantly, without warning, they've put up a bloody great sign in front of our house this morning! This will undoubtedly affect resale of our house and just looks awful.

Whilst I don't really want to be a NIMBY, I feel like it could have been more appropriately placed.

Aside from register my annoyance with the council (which I have done and I'm awaiting feedback) is there anything else I can do?

Many thanks in advance

tommytee

The scheme will have been advertised in the local press - if you don't read the local paper thats an issue for you not the Council.

They usually post notices on lamposts around the area too.

A sign in front of your house won't affect resale value either - it annoys you because it's new. In an urban area you should expect road signs.
  • You aren't living in Bristol by any chance are you? If you are the sign is the least of your worries. If they go ahead with the 20 mph zone you'll probably end up with a speed bump or a chicane outside your house too!
