She received the letter from them on Monday and has been given until Sunday (which is not classed as a working day) to make her mind up if she wants to use the voucher for the reduced amount of £400 (plus pay another £370) for the suite - with another 3 month delay in maybe or maybe not getting her suite at all.
I know if it were me I would tell them where to stick it - I wouldn't take the risk of losing even more money - but pursue every legal avenue possible and become a thorn in their flesh.
Better to get some cash out of the deal and chalk it up to experience I agree.0 -
i don't think there is any cash to be had here. the option sounds like either (i) write off the full £600 or (ii) pay another £370 and risk losing that as well.
i would go with (i).
"pursuing every legal avenue possible" sounds fun, but will ultimately cost you a lot more than £370, and you'll probably get nothing out of that either.0 -
I think my daughter realises that she's probably going to lose her money but then she's not me. I prefer to stand my ground and fight. There are things I can probably do and will try my best but at the end of the day what she does is her decision.
I admit I was a bit worried when she phoned me in November to tell me she'd bought a suite but that it wouldn't be delivered until February. I said to my husband I thought it was an excessively long time and he agreed. I had niggling doubts then I suppose.
By contrast when we bought our suite a few years ago from another company, we ordered it in mid December, was given mid January for delivery. We went up to Scotland for New Year and stayed a week. When we came back on the Friday there was a letter from the company saying they had our suite and when would we like it delivered. Unfortunately, my son took critically ill with kidney failure a week later and we had to cancel the original delivery date. The company we dealt with were extremely sympathetic and kept our suite in their warehouse until we were ready to get it delivered. I would most certainly use them again.
What a contrast between two companies. One who couldn't give a **** about their customers and the other who bent over backwards to help.
Still doesn't help my daughter and the many others who have been mercilessly ripped off though:mad:0 -

Indeed.
Yet you still went for the cheap and nasty LoL despite knowing the other company were great. Goes to show that cutting customer service to the bone (hence treating the customer like dirt) is the way to go.0 -

Er, no, her poor daughter chose to go with LoL. And was she really to know that this was going to happen to her? TBH I can see why some people did go there for a sofa. Yes the quality might not be that great, but they were also known for chucking in a dining table and chairs along with some deals, quite tempting when on a budget.0 -
£600 cheap! My last suite cost me under £300.....£600 would be classed as expensive to me.Indeed.

All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
christ this thread is spiralling down the same way as the 75p jam sandwich thread.
in a minute someone will post and say people buying sofas from a shop is a symptom of "lazy britain" and that you should build your 3 piece suite yourself out of materials scavenged from the local tip; anything else is a waste of money.0 -

Just for you.....
I once bought a realy lovely sofa which was well sprung/good condition but fairly horrid fabric, for a tenner from the local paper, I had a roll of 'designer' uphostery fabric that I'd got at a sale from a very expensive fabric shop: it cost staggaringly little £50 quid. Then sold it in a friend shop for just under £250 quid. But it was quite hard work...I wouldn't do it again.0 -

if you went for option ii) limit your hassle by either tell them you will only pay them when you have the goods delivered and in your possession or use a credit card0 -
Anyone Who Has Paid By Visa Can Do A Chargeback...even If Your Card Is A Visa Debit...i Had To Do This When Zoom Went Bust...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0
