maybe because the house prices won't be dropping by 80% as you dream of...

If you read my post its very clear that I am not in the 80% or even the 70% club.

I clearly said I am in the 50% club.

All this talk of 70 or 80% drops in London didnt start with me, I have been consistant. Always said 50% drops from the top and I stick to what I said.
  • My main problem with London is what it does to people. I started commutinng in from Norbiton to Waterloo, and the same people on the same train every morning looking utterly miserable desperately trying to ignore each and every other person who might glance in their direction with the merest hint of human interaction.

A more dehumanising place I do not know. I now live in Teesside and work in York, and spent 07 and 08 travelling down to London once a fortnight (sometimes weekly) on business, and the place hasn't got any bette since I left for the north east in 2002. Like I said earlier, it stinks. Literally.

You want to improve your quality of life? Don't live in the south east.
  • and even if you do, you're never likely to meet them anyway!

Fair point, although i quite like it that way myself. I'm not too keen on garden fence moments.

Rubbish, I moved to Dorking, Surrey over 3 years ago and haven't looked back, friendly people, countryside on your doorstep, lovely place.

And you can have all of that without the mass of people in close proximity, without the aircraft noise and without paying £400k for a house everywhere else in the country. I read loads of guff about how Britain is "full". It might be in the sarfeast but up here there is bags of free space.

There is no aircaraft noise in Dorking! what are you talking about? Dorking is a small market town so where are these masses of people? There is plenty of open space here too. I am from the North East originally (Newcastle) I certainly would not consider moving to Teeside that's a certainty!

So if London goes to ratsh1t because the collapsing financial services industry mean lower revenues, who will pay for the Olympics.

    Sorry, silly question.
