Can anyone with recent experience suggest the cheapest on-line supplier of standard radiators? 2 x double, 1 x single with top and side panels. I have been looking at https://www.discountedheating.co.uk Myson range and wondered whether anyone has been able to beat their prices?
Details are 700 x 400mm Double Covector 2476 BTUs £56.68 inc Vat
600 x 1000mm Double Convector 5575 BTUs £88.13 inc Vat
450 x 2000mm Single Convector 4842 BTUs £109.28 inc Vat
So £254.09 with free delivery.
Also looking to replace a few TRVs, seven in total. Do B&Qs double pack of white TRV and lockshield valve represent good value at £7.98?http://www.diy.com
Many thanks

Have you tried http://www.plumbworld.co.uk or Screwfix, let me know what you decide on as I too need some decent radiators that give out decent heat
Also, i am looking for heaters with bends for a big bay window, any ideas where I can get one?

B&Q also do a range of radiators that are cheap. They are also sold in TradeDepot for a bit less if you have one near you.
I was looking at at 600x800 double (approx 3400btu) today for about £38.
Anyone know the make and if they are any good?0 -
a friend of mine bought all his radiators from b&q and they work well. he has had them for nealy year now0

I would stick with B&Q. I spend thousands with screwfix but I'm afraid I wouldn't touch their radiators. They have arrived with sratches and dents. The grilles on these are pressed on and sometimes pop off. i know someone who fitted one then found it had a pinhole in it making it necessary to be without heating until a replacement arrived. They are great and will change them or just credit your account as its not cost effective to collect them. Unfortunately, this doesn't get you a working radiator.
Go into a B&Q store and they sell Biasi which are of a much higher quality, the side and top grilles are screwed on and most are in boxes well packed. If you want to save money and dont mind about cosmetic damage then look out for the ones out of their boxes. A few scuffs can mean they are marked down to nearly half their original price!0 -
I'm looking at new radiators too. Anyone any experience of the Acova multicolumn range? I've had a look at discounteadheating.co.uk and B&Q and the latter is much cheaper radiator for radiator...
Either way for five new radiators, I'm still looking at dropping £940 B&Q's way. Given that these are ok radiators (pls. feel free to tell me otherwise), any ideas on reducing this bill.0 -
Check out ebay - i've seen a shop on their for 7 rads for around £300 but of course that depends on what BTU output you need.
Can't rememeber the link to the shop but sure it can be found with a search on rads...

Hi Hander. Its funny you should mention this..... I have bought a few of these Acova rads from B&Q. I had looked at ones from a reclaimation yard but by the time you sand blast and have to repaint them its not worth the hastle. The acova rads are also designed to work with the relatively lower temperatures of modern heating systems and you know what the btu is without having to guess. All the ones I'm buying are the reduced ones out of their boxes so a saving there.
Do you have a relative or friend that is over 60? The B&Q Diamond club gives over 60s a 10% saving every Wednesday on everything so you would be looking at a £94 saving on your bill. Minus the cup of tea instore to keep your "pensioner mule" happy.0 -

You made me laugh here. Thanks.
And, like you, I've considered the restoration option but it's a fortune where I am. I'll have a look at these today then and also pop by Wickes to look at theirs (though I've never had good experience of Wickes...)0 -

That's an excellent tip for the Under 60's - my dad was always being asked to nip to B&Q on a Wed to get stuff for people and he usually got repaid in kind
