Maybe you could rig up some kind of PIR system that triggers the hose sprinkler on the lawn. It could be set to activate when the fox goes on the lawn.
I dont know how difficult it would be
Would the fox be detered by getting wet  I dont know  , at least the lawn would get a soaking and dilute the fox p .

That sounds like a fantastic idea :T wonder how easy it would be...

every now and then...I have a good idea  :rotfl:

That was my good idea for this year :rotfl:

Ask in the techies board  , theres plenty of clever people in there that'll be able to come up with something. Failing that ask yorkshireboy, he's the sparky I think , he'll know a bit about PIR's.

    Hi,

i too had a new lawn laid back at the beginnibg of september.........Rolawn, which was supposed to be best available. I left it for 8-10 weeks in which it grew like mad....cut it just before winter with a high blade. kids, dog etc not been on it and it too has a yellow tips now which i was worried about until i read this.hopefully it is freeze stress!

one thing though.i get quite a few worm casts....should i hose these away or leave them?
  • Hi

Like i said before it`s probably just a bit of freeze stress !

There are some diseases however the very cold winter will of kept them dormant.

Untill enough available light is present the grass will have Chlorosis as it`s Etiolated.

    Or in english

Chlorosis through Etiolation means lack of light=Lack of Chlorophyll (Green plant pigments)

Soon as Light levels and temperatures increase More Chlorophyll is produced thus more Photosynthesis is captured which will produce synthesized carbohdrates ie sugars ect

    In a nutshell

All this will make the plant greener and more dense/healthy.

    GARDNT1

There are only 26 uk earthworms and only 3 produce casting !

They do a valuable job most of the time loosening the soil and creating Pore space thus better drainage.

they also decompose OM into humus that`ll be returned to the plant as nutrient.

Wait till a dry day and brush them off !

    OR

Apply a worm controll chemical...You`ll need a licence to spray them though !

Need any more info anyone get back
  • While we have a lawn expert reading, can you tell me if there is a machine that cuts and lifts the top layer of turf so that it can be re-laid in another location? I'm sure I remember seeing one on a gardening programme once.
