It seems to me that you have two options, let the property and pay the £150 difference yourself. Or sell the property, possibly at a loss. If the property's monthly rent is £150 less than your mortgage could you rent a similar proper near you wife's family for the same kind of price? In which case you'd be paying around what you pay now, and be living in a similar property in the right area. Will your mortgage payments go down in April?0

Unfortunately, Alliance & Leicester seem to have the exact same SVR as I am currently on from 2 years ago, 5.09%, so they will stay the same it seems.
My problem at the moment is Barratts are still building on the estate and are flogging the same type of house very very cheaply just to get rid of them, and like I say, no one seems interested in renting, so stressful..0
