An expensive perfumed body lotion (a gift maybe?) can be stretched with an unscented lotion with little or no dilution of the scent0

What a brilliant thread! I was reading an article the other day about Sodium Laureth Sulphate and how bad it is for your scalp - and would explain why mine is so sore so was on the look out for some SLS free products and they cost about £8.99 a bottle
so these OS versions are great!

The simplest saving of all is to not use most products.
Several years ago, I had regular problems with itchy scalp and blocked ears. The nurse told me that the blockage in the ears wasn't wax, but peeling skin. I changed to a hypoallergenic shampoo, but it only helped a little.
One summer, while on a camping holiday, I took the plunge and stopped using shampoo altogether (I figured that in a field of tents, no one would worry if it looked too bad).
Over the next couple of months, my hair went through several greasy phases (though never enough to make me give up). I washed it with nothing but water and persisted as the itchy scalp had stopped itching.
After that time, my hair stabilised and now looks great. For the last four years, it's had no attention apart from a good regular haircut and a weekly wash with water.
My ears are massively better. My scalp is fine. I get compliments on my hair.
So, that's my tip. Scrap all hair products, save money, improve your health and reduce pollution all in one go!
(I've since discovered that several of my friend do the same thing - but I can't tell which ones by looking at their hair)0 -
Don't buy all of those fancy foot creams,
After you get out of the bath slap some cheap petrolium jelly all over your spuds and put on a pair of cotton socks, go to bed as usual (This can also be used on your hands with some cotton gloves) when you wake up in the morning your feet will be a soft as as a likkle baby0 -
Mix a little fake tan into your regular moisturiser, gives a healthy glow in winter!0

coconut oil massaged into the scalp is a brilliant pre-shampoo hair condtioner - it melts on contact with the skin, just wash it out thoroughly
baby oil makes a good eye makeup remover
baby oil and/or hair conditioner is great for shaving legs
sugar and olive oil mixed together makes a great exfoliator for hands, getting rid of stains and dry patches (good for after gardening or painting!)
apparently elbows sat in squeezed lamon halves makes your elbows lovely and soft - haven't tried it!
cotton gloves (available from Boots) are great for really dry hands - slather on some heavy duty moisturiser (like E45) and put on gloves overnight - hey presto - lovely soft hands in the morning.
Ditto with feet - only use socks after slathering your feet - great for doing a couple of weeks before revealing feet in mules!0
