Car insurance renewal - cheeky whatsits!

I have had my car insurance renewal quote through today - £619, when I paid about £500 last year! The best quote I have had so far is £355 from the same insurer! I know plenty of people just pay their renewal quote, but the insurance company really has a cheek to say that is the best price they could find for me. Maybe they should actually try looking.....?

Did you start with this company last year by any chance?0

Yes, I've had almost one year of insurance with them.0

Yawn - this topic comes up nearly every day on the insurance board. Have a look through the older topics and you'll see people's responses to queries like yours0

you mean like looking for threads that cover exactly the same subject as they are an FAQ

Hi archie,
The reason your premium has gone up is you got a "New customer discount" last year (Think the nationwide adverts). When the policy is due for renewal you do not get the new customer discount as they cover your first year at a "Loss" to get you on the books and then hope you renew.
You will find the same thing will happen again next year as if you go to a new company or find a way of getting the new customer discount off your current company it will go up again next year.
There is plenty of advice on getting the best deal and how these new customer discounts work and negiotating a discount off your renewal premium with your current company in the Insurance forum, have a look around or do a search
Good luck0 -

Yawn?? Yawn??
By jove, you make a comment and then you "yawn"??
I would stick with your existing insurance provider if I were you. Which I am not.

What a stupid post. Have you actually read the topic as a whole or are you just trolling the forums?Boris Johnson voted against Brexit in the Commons, all to become leader of the Conservative Party. Fall for it and you deserve everything you get.0 -

Actually the same happened with me this year, been with the same company, Diamond for years, all of a sudden a huge increase in price, granted, I do have a bigger car, but felt the increase was rather a lot, went onto the price comparison websites and it's around £300 cheaper and with less excess  Think it might be time to change. Will need to call them directly this evening to make sure the quote is as stated on the website.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
