Hi
Me and my partner are looking at renting a 1 bedroom house ( 2 storey). It is quite cheap for the area at £375 with TWO parkings spaces, which seems to be non exsistent anywhere else.
The only thing is, it has storage heaters. I think the property is under 20 years old and the energy efficiency rating is E (46).
Theres a lounge and small open kitchen to lounge with one heater, spiral staircase up to bedroom with another heater in there, then the bathroom.
I am checking to make sure the bathroom has a heater.
How much do you think my electric will cost a month with these heaters?
Me and my boyfriend both work full time and out most of the day ( 7am-5pm).
Hope someone can offer me soom advice or figures from experience.
Thank you

Look on the bright side. The rental seems cheap and hopefully you won't need those storage heaters after the next 4-6 weeks (this time last year we were cutting the grass!)
Then you'll have the rest of the year to save up towards running those expensive storage heaters ... or have moved out"Now to trolling as a concept. .... If the house is rated E that would suggest very poor insulation. I think the storage heaters will be the least of your worries - you will be paying through the nose to heat the street! At the very least the freeholder should promise (in writing) to do the loft insulation over the summer as this is a cheap job. What are the windows like? Are you willing to pay for thermally lined curtains?
Spiral staircase to bedroom .. is the whole place open plan? Heat rises - the bedroom will be roasting and the living area freezing. Ask for a copy of the current tenant's winter quarter energy bill or at least their usage in KWH over the winter period (in writing) before you commit.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Energy saving lightbulbs - 5 for 50p or less. That'll improve the enegy rating. :j
Sadly it probably won't affect the bills much though"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
