Gas Company and electric company

Am i in a contract with my gas company??? i want to use U switch to compare prices and if it is cheap i will go with a new company but if i go ahead and switch will this make me break some kind of contract thats if i even have a contract with them i dont know if i do so how do u switch and similar companies work in regards to switching or have i got no contract with my gas or electric comapny?

    Some tariffs that have fixed prices charge you to leave early. Most don't so when you switch, the contracts are ended automatically. Try onr of the price comparison sites in the Resource Bar (the strip near the top of the page, below the red Start Here button) for some price comparisons.

    Excellent magentasue thanks again but will i need to phone them just to check because i dont want a really high charge cancelation charge thats if i am in a contract is there any way to find out without having to phone them

    Tell us which supplier and the name of the tariff - someone will know. From your other posts, it seems that you may have been on the same tariff since 2007? Unlikely that you have a fixed tariff with penalty - they weren't so common then.

    Scottish power im jst thinking others may not be cheap anyone been with scootish power before but then saved on a better deal i will be using the price comparison sites in the Resource Bar thanks magentasue
