My friend is hopping mad. She uses a LA and some tenants have just moved out leaving the place filthy, damaged paintwork, carpets badly needing cleaning. smokers which she specifically said she didnt want. Good quality curtains have to be cleaned. It turns out that the LA did not do an inventory
when the old tenant moved in so they are saying that they cannot deduct any money from the deposit. Apparently in the 18months they have lived there only one check has been made of the property. It has cost her
quite a lot in time (for decorating) carpet cleaning, general cleaning and wahsing of curtains. The LA have apologised, blaimed a colleague who has since left the company and have offered a measly £100 to cover costs.
She has sent a stiff letter of complaint but what else can she do.
Thanks in advance

Change LA. Put all her complaints in writing to the old LA and send them copies of the receipts she's got.
Take them the small claims court for it.0 -
So they've admitted their wrongdoing.anniehanlon wrote: »... The LA have apologised, blaimed a colleague who has since left the company and have offered a measly £100 to cover costs....
Follow Poppysarah's advice above and claim for all quantifiable damage."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Agree with Poppysarah but your friend could also check if the LAs are signed up to ARLA, NALS or OEA schemes and make a formal complaint their too as they wold be signed up to a code of conduct. She could also let the local LL association know too, so that other LLs are aware of their lack of professionalism.0
