Bournemouth is quite a mix - there are areas that should be avoided and areas that are very very expensive and areas that are all flats.

Most families don't live central Bournemouth as it is mostly flats. I would suggest a call to good estate agent - I have used Frost & Co twice.

I will PM you some of the 'not so good' areas - don't want to upset anyone on the forums.

Another tip is to look at https://www.thisisbournemouth.co.uk - website for the local newspaper. You'll pick up on areas as they appear in the paper.

Anyway - You've made a good choice - I've lived here for 16 years (moved down to go to Bournemouth Uni) and I have a family and 2 dogs. I have a 10 minute commute to work and love the beaches and all the woodlands for the dogs.
  • Thanks for all the info.

name and shame the areas..... best school/s are teh Grammar which includes 6th form and isn't based on area though I'm not sure how they deal with new pupils (not got one old enough yet). With regards to transport and getting around I've personally preferred living within a reasonable distance of something called the "Wessex Way" a dual carriageway that runs through the town as is the main route in and out of the town. Only personal preference but I'd avoid the likes of Kinson/certain parts of Boscombe/Town Centre/Parkstone. Most popular(well maybe popular isn't the word but desired areas and hence more expensive) areas are likes of Southbourne/Christchurch/Mudeford/Westbourne/Canford Cliffs/Talbot Woods

You're also close to Poole(it's hard to spot where they end and begin so depending where you need to commute to it's another options. Medium areas giving a decent choice and price but not necessarily top of desireable lists are Lower Parkstone/CHarminster/Winton/Moordown/SOuthbourne again/parts of Boscombe(and I mean parts, some are certain no-nos)
  • Thanks a lot for all the info. Very helpfull.
