Sony Car CD Player not working - NO POWER

To cut a long story short the car cd player is not working in my car. My bf was fiddling around with it, and a zap noise was heard, followed by no power to the head unit. I have checked the fuses - all ok. I have tried my sony cd player head unit in my bro's car - works fine.

I can only think it must be one of the connecting wires that has broken.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

  • i dont think a zap noise will break a wire

have you tested the fuse on the back of the stereo and on the car?
  • It definitely sounds like a fuse, have you checked them all as there are often a few fuses connected with the cd player

There are usually 2 fuses for the radio. Is there anything else not working ? (usually interior light or clock) Have you got a multimeter, check for power on the red and yellow wires .
  • Yes I have tested the fuse at the back of the stereo in another car and the stereo works fine.

Everything else is also working fine (interior lights/clocks). I will test with a multimeter and check for power. Cheers
