If your not happy then switch. Use the advice on here under PPI. I have just moved to Ant ins. and 900 is costing me £18 (I think). To be expected that premiums will rise, just means you will need to shop around. If your moving from 1 policy to another they should wavier the unemployment waiting time. (So double check that too)

I am not sure that this is great advice...

you can risk invalidating your cover for the sake of a few quid - not exactly genius thinking

well in my case is was for the sake of £22 per month, and I dont see the problem. I called them and confirmed I was covered for the same amount as my last policy straight away for unemployment. And to keep my last policy documents till their usual exclution period so they could confirm all my payments were up to date. No break in dates. So whats the problem? (And I want to know so I can check my cover)

Recommending people to use the "advice" on this site...?

You may have checked - but I can tell you that there are a lot of people who think Martin Lewis is gospel, who will not double check new conditions.

AH! I see. Fair enough. But you gotta start somewhere. And provided you check the cover is the same or better there should be no reason you cant switch. And if you dont want to pay the extra £5, I wouldnt bother for small amounts, but if your hell bent on that fiver, its an option.

    thanks for the advice,
i still think it is very unfair, The reason being unemployment was at record lows over the last three years and business's were booming................but did they offer to reduce anybodies monthly payments .......I think not.
    ........they pocketed the money

and now times are looking a little dodgy they come back and demand more money.

OK so let's use an analogy of a greengrocer.
Let's say you're a greengrocer, and you sell oranges at 20p each. Your customers are quite happy with the price.
Your cost price is 10p so you're making 10p profit per orange.

If your cost price then dropped to 8p would you drop the price of your oranges?

Also your comment 'a little dodgy' is naive to say the least. Have you noticed how many thousands of redundancies are happening at the moment?

I also have received a letter from Helpupay or Helpucover and my policy is increasing from £14 to £26 next month. Now that's a bloody big jump for the same policy, although I suppose as others say a sign of the times!
