New Card Scam by Citi Bank

Beware of a new card scam being carried out by CitiBank.
They omit sending you a monthly statement, then when you miss your payment they charge you £12. Off course if you ask they say it must have been lost in the post and for £3 they will send you another one. Nice earner for them and no one can prove they didnt send it out in the first place.
They only have to do this to 67 thousand cardholders and they have collected an extra million pounds.

    Hi

If you set up a DD to at least pay the minimum amount every month, even if you don't get a statement, you wont have to pay late fees.

    Paul,

You may want to revise your post unless you have evidence that citi are really doing this! Otherwise it is libelous.

My statement arrived incredibly late last month, too late to make a bacs payment and avoid a late payment fee. I wrote to complain and have had no response which in itself is a breach of the banking code.

Smile :), it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
  • To be libelous it would have to be proven as a false statement. The lady I spoke to at CitiBank said they could not prove they had posted it. Therefore although they may deny my suggestion they cannot prove it isnt true.
  • There would have to be a hell of a lot of staff in on the ''scam'' for it to work though?

Can you prove you didnt receive it?
  • hi

if its a scam or not its too late to turn the clock back. if they do online banking id suggest signing up for that. if nothing else it would save 33 for a replacement statement.

chances are if you threaten them with court they will refund the charge.
