Self Employed but now Ltd Company-Claim for PPI

Options
Can anyone help me?
My boyfriend has several cards and loans where he has been paying payment protection. The loans have since finished but the cards are still being used, and he has had them for several years.

He was classed as being self employed up until around 4 years ago when the company he and his brother owned turned ltd. They are now both classed as directors of the company and are therefore employees.

I am now confused as to whether he can only claim the PPI back up until 4 years ago or whether we can claim to the current date, because PPi is still not be suitable for him. They have a plastering company and if the company went bust they would just back to hands on work and would therefore not require PPI. If he had a long term sickness he would still be paid.

Has anyone else come across this situation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

    Hi there

I would check this link out here
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

Have your boyfriend still got the policy details/term & conditions of the loan/PPI?

Check out that link and see if there are more reasons to go by, it may make the case stronger, but I would write to them anyway to complain and reclaim, they have 8 weeks to respond in full, another letter maybe required, until the final decision is received which this one should enclose the Financial ombudsman details (FOS) leaflet with the procedures on how to complain.

Even though there is a template on that above link, try to write in your own words with obviously your own reasons, its worth giving it a try.

    Post by recorded delivery.

Good luck and please keep us posted.;)

  • Hi

I have just posted 3 letters today, to reclaim money, so fingers crossed. One of them he has been paying around £30 per month in ppi, so hopefully we will see something. If not I will definitely persue.

When I have thought about this again, they were intially in the wrong to sell this product to him in the first place, and the fact that his situation has changed is irrelevant really.

    Thanks
