We have our lounge then we have the dining room/kitchen behind it, at present it has a wall seperating it and as far as i am aware it is not supporting..me and dd were watching a prog the other night where we watched somone put doors in and it looked really nice, they put sliding doors in so that it could either all be open plan or closed to make it back into 2 rooms..
Has anyone else done this and how was it? how much roughly would we be looking at and what's the best thing to use for the doors?
Thanks for any replies.

My neighbours did this last year, they paid approx £2000. We're in London.0

I have done this several times in my house. (well, not me personally!)
I have converted my house from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroomed house and had to put door frames in. The walls I created doors from were supporting so I had to have RSJ/lintels put in at the top of them.
I also converted a little room downstairs where the door was leading from the lounge. I changed it so the door opened from the kitchen (making a kitchen utility room), again, that was supporting so had to have a RSJ/lintel.
I would defintely get a few builders at least, preferably a structural engineer to come round and have a look and see if it is supporting or not, as you don't want any nasty surprises!0 -
Thanks for the replies! i am pretty sure it isn't supporting but does run across the middle of the house so wouldn't take any risks! it is roughly 12 foot wide by 7 foot high the bit that would be doors..
If it going to be around £2k then we won't bother that sounds loads! although have no idea really..
Are there any sites with idea on anyone knows of?
