UK Holiday Destination Ideas (Help PLEASE!)

Well after a strenuous last few months with one thing or another which has had a stressful knock-on effect on the family, other half has now got some time off work and we figure now is a good time for some good old last minute relaxation and family bonding! It has to be in the UK as other half's passport has expired!
The problem is we need somewhere that's suitable for everyone and we're not sure where to head for.
Can anyone suggest places that would be suitable for:
A 4 year old who likes digging on the beach, a teenage boy who loves theme park type places and a 21 year old who hates them. Not forgetting me, who just wants to sit in the peace and quiet and an other half who always wants to visit touristy type attractions, go on woodland type walks and also go to the above mentioned theme parks!
Any suggestions GRATEFULLY received!

It doesn't say where you live but you could try any of the East Coast of Yorkshire resorts or perhaps try Centre Parcs (may be dear). Could also try South West such as Newquay / Bude but Newquay is full of surfers.
You could try http://www.visitbritain.com/ for a few ideas.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
How about bournemouth. Its lovely - nice beach. Loads to do and see all around. Good clubs for a 21 year old.
We live in southampton and love going to Bournemouth.
Can't think of any theme parks.
I also agree with chalky as Newquay is excellent for all age groups and there are loads of place worth visiting around the area. Also with Newquay you could find a caravan park which would probabaly be cheaper than hotels.

Have you thought about Great Yarmouth? It`s on the coast with all those seaside thing`s plus you have the Broad`s on your door step as well.

What`s wrong with wearing womens clothes 54% of population do anyway

Thanks for all suggestions so far, I'll look into them.
Perhaps I should have mentioned a couple of things:
We're in the Scottish Highlands, but we don't mind travelling a fair bit. Sometimes part of the fun of a break is the getting there. (Maybe I should have underlined the word 'sometimes'
)
Also, 21 year old has disabilites so isn't your usual run of the mill 21year old clubber, he's more of a 'tag-along-er' really
. (We don't need disabled facilities or anything like that though.) Herman - MP for all!

you could always get the passport replaced the same day...
Other than that Yorkshire would be quite a good place
Beaches are great, Leeds / York etc good to go out in, Lightwater valley for rollercoaster fans (and Flamingoland if it's still there) and best of all, it's not too far to drive! Scarborough would probably fit your needs, as would Whitby as they are both within easy reach of the moors & nice places to relax (Heartbeat is filmed 5 miles from Whitby for eg)
Alternatively you have Blackpool over the other side of the pennines...

hi.
Good spot for a UK holiday is centreparcs, (Lichfield, elvedon or Sherwood Forest or Oasis in the Lake district.
Great kids activities for all ages up to teens , woodland walks for the other half , Aqua Sana (Spa area for you. Do as much or as little as you like feel like you are away from it all and everyone else. May be a little expensive during the school hols but they may do last minute deals. Swimming pool area is free!!! and you can self cater to cut down on expense.
I love it there, if this doesnt suit how about sunny Scarborough where I live , Outdoor heated pool is open and kinderland (for up to teens).
Good luck in your hunt and let the site know where you chose and if you enjoyed it!!!

Anywhere on the LLeyn Penninsula, North Wales - from Porthmadog to the tip at Aberdaeron.
Around Porthmadog you will find superb beaches, and lots of interesting things to do for all ages, even when it rains..which it won't of course!
Stop looking for answers....
The most you can hope for are clues.....:)0 -
Thanks for all the ideas. ;D
I'll run the suggestions past other half when he comes in from work tonight.
(I had to laugh when I saw Sue's posting as it included Sherwood Forest. Other half had mentioned this at one point but I took the mickey as I figured he just wanted to dress up in tights!

We went to Nottingham for a few days a couple of years ago, and were suitably impressed with the forest, and the 'touristy' stuff in the city centre. No tights were donned but a good time was had by all, and we're a fairly hard to please bunch.(I had to laugh when I saw Sue's posting as it included Sherwood Forest. It's often possible to combine the beach with the rides - I presume it's the roller coasters rather than the 'theme' bit of the theme park which is the attraction. For example there is a lovely beach at Brean Sands (near Weston-Super-Mare) which also has loads of roller coasters next to it.
Plus lots of big parks now seem to have a sandpit area in their play areas, if it's the sand rather than the beach which is important for the four year old. (Mind you, I never know how they keep the cats and dogs out.)
I'm also a great believer in "It's my holiday too, Cyril." So if necessary we can all put up with one day on the beach, one day at the theme park, one day on a lovely woodland walk, and one day when I choose what to do. But if you've all had a stressful time, accept that doing different things may help you unwind, so maybe t'other half and the teenager can do the theme park while you do something with the other two. Just make sure you do get to choose one day!
Enjoy the holiday!Signature removed for peace of mind0
