Had a letter from the student loan people outlining my repayment schedule:eek: Somewhere the deferment letter and their letter have obviously crossed paths so need to give them a call or else I'll be well out of pocket!

    V. quiet here. Shopping arrived earlier, have done OH a pack up for tomorrow after going on pack up strike for the last week and a bit:p I demanded he be more attentive - whilst I do stay at home and look after the children, I said he needed to start treating me like his good laydee because he seemed to have forgotten I was that as well as the resident nanny/cook/cleaner/chauffeur:D

It seemed to be going in one ear and out of the other until on Sunday I had enough ("you're so high maintenance, other blokes would have been out the door years ago..." Cue me "well if they think showing a little bit of attentiveness is that much of a chore then they shouldn't be coupled up then should they? Just you wait until I get so starved of affection I go and have a bloody affair - then you'll be asking me why I never said how I felt!!!")

Okay so very over-dramatic but strangely the mention of an affair (of course I'd never actually do it!) seemed to kick him into gear and I've felt coupley as well as mumsy and housewifey which is nice:)

Letter arrived earlier from student loan people saying my deferment has been accepted so that's sorted!

Still need to transfer 'spare' water rates money to cc so will do that today.

Another quiet day, hoping to get the rest of DDs' room organised as much as I can. I actually ironed DD1's uniform and hung it all up - I overcame my allergy to ironing and it looks so smart all hung up!

Still got a few things to do, some I can do myself but the rest OH needs to do:
    • [STRIKE]put up pink curtains[/STRIKE]
    • change sheets (to wait until bunk beds sorted - see below)
    • [STRIKE]put all clothes away in new drawers[/STRIKE]
    • fix up top bunk and ladder - [STRIKE]tidy bunk first as full of DDs' drawings![/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]sort out shoes and keep in wardrobe [/STRIKE]- look for shoe tidy - need to do this today
    • [STRIKE]hang up dresses and school uniform[/STRIKE]
    • sort through toys - be ruthless - organise and tidy board games - part way done with toys, need at least another morning/afternoon at this, will be easier if I get OH to dismantle DD2's single bed as is right in front of wardrobe where toys are stored
    • get nightlights - Ikea? - still need to do this, will look online in a bit and maybe persuade OH into another trip with promises of pack ups all month and nice chicken dinners LOL:D
OH needs to fix up the bunk which should be done at the weekend and I can manage the rest, the majority of which I hope to get done later. Need to scout round for nightlights and shoe tidies.

Other jobs for the day include going to library to return magazines on one-week loan and my books, and if time to make cookies in double batch and freeze one lot.

  • Hi Jo,

Sounds like you are organised as ever. I try and avoid ironing at all costs too but have a load that needs doing...later lol

Good news about the Student Loan and the extra payment to credit card.

Aw bless you Tea but I think we all know *you're* the organised one - I look longingly at your dead good lists!

Books and magazines returned to library yesterday and got new ones out, another magazine to remember to return next week on a week's loan.

Money transferred to cc so can cross that off.

Stereo I ordered is ready, I need to print off something or other as I opted for store pick-up to save the delivery charge, just not sure which bit they want me to print out so will print out every email and hope one of them is the right one! Also need to transfer appropriate amount out of savings into current account to cover it so will do that shortly.

Need to look for nightlights and shoe tidies, thinking Ikea as want to go there anyways to get a big bookcase for the living room so hoping can persuade OH to go there again over the weekend.

Really need to get some ebaying done otherwise buying maternity clothes is really going to make a dent in my budgeting, even if I spread it out and buy a little each month. I'm okay for now as wearing a mix of maternity jeans/new dress with ordinary long tops and cardigans but reckon I can only get away with that for another month or so! Thing is a lot of the things I was going to ebay were baby things and now want to hold on to a lot of it but my perpetual decluttering quest may bring up some more things to stick on there. Certainly my wardrobe holds many things I haven't worn for an eternity so should start there really!

Thanks, it always looks good on paper but I often lack the momentum to get anything done :rotfl:

Good luck with Ikea, I could spend hours and hours in there and possibly spend a huge amount too :D hope you find the bits you need.

Good luck with the e-baying too.

Today is a quiet day moneywise. Still need to transfer stereo money from savings to current account but otherwise there's nothing pressing to do.

Today's task is to sort out the toys in DDs' bedroom and be ruthless:D Have already managed a bin liner full of rubbish so fully expecting at least another one!

If I get through that then a good vacuum will be needed, otherwise I'll finish that off tomorrow.

It's definitely the time-to-get-things-done whilst DDs have been on hols that's helped motivate me. Most of the time I feel like I'm chasing my own tail just getting the day-to-day things done that need doing so to have some spare time is a real bonus during the week!:)

Got the quarterly bill from Eon yesterday. It seems we are in debit by over £600 and they want to increase our monthly DD from £73 to £173:eek:

I need to go through this, it's more confusing as we had our electricity meter changed not long ago and there was a discrepancy with how many units we'd used so somewhere we should have a small credit which was what they agreed (something to do with the meter reading they were given before we moved in being higher than the one we gave them.)

I did expect a larger electricity billing due to the house being bigger, using storage heaters and the tumble dryer but it's an inordinately larger amount than I could have expected so not sure how to approach it really - my first instinct was to go round switching all the plugs off although we're quite good on the whole!

In other news (LOL) another trip to Ikea today found us with my much longed-for bookcase:D plus a couple of shoe tidies which will be put in DDs' bedroom. I do still need to transfer the money for the stereo from my savings so need to add on the money spent on the bookcase. OH mentioned getting a sideboard - something else I have wanted to do for a while - so will look at factoring that in somewhere.

Budgeting for the month still going well, keeping miscellaneous spends to a minimum, have a few receipts to tot up so will do that tomorrow.

Tomorrow should see finishing off DDs' room, the toy situation was less dire than I anticipated so didn't take as long as I initially thought. What is needed now is to take down DD2's single bed followed by a thorough vacuum. The only thing left after that is for OH to fix up the top bunk which he reckons won't take long so hopefully he'll get that done after work bless him:D then can change sheets and all done - with the addition of shoe tidies andlittle night lights I picked up from B & Q at the bargain price of 2.99 each.

Today got off to a busy start in the house. DDs' room has been thoroughly vacuumed, OH should be sorting out the top bunk later and then can sort out changing sheets and dismantling the single bed (have decided to get OH to give me a hand as not sure I can manage it myself.)

All of downstairs vacuumed, load of washing on, one still drying from yesterday outside and towels drying in tumble dryer.

So list of house and money things to do this afternoon:
    • [STRIKE]finish putting shelves into new bookcase[/STRIKE] and pop files and folders with money stuff on
    • put stereo on shelf where files and folders were
    • do shopping list and book online shopping slot
    • pop to shop for something to put on OH's sandwiches for tomorrow
    • [STRIKE]have shower whilst baby napping[/STRIKE]
    • transfer money from savings into current account to cover purchase of stereo and bookcase (will do this evening as need to go through receipts)
    • remind OH to transfer money to my account for last week's shopping
    • put laundry away
    • [STRIKE]sort out something storecupboardy for tea[/STRIKE]
    • pick up prescription from chemist
Just going to run to hop in shower before baby wakes up!
