Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good FM transmitter for my car. Ideally would like one that accepts memory cards and/or usb sticks aswell as the conventional 3.5mm jack.
Many thanks

Never realised that such things existed, I assumed that most were for ipods or other mp3 players.I've a Kensington for my Ipod if thats any use.
Like this one.
That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Never seen any that accept memory cards... they would effectively have to be a player of some kind.
In general we've found the Belkin ones to be poor and the Kensington ones to be good.0 -
Agree with isofa, Belkin ones are rubbish, I bought one and it is next to useless. The only way it works is to place it virtually next to the ariel and even then it is very hissy.LBM : March 2008

i was thinking more along the lines of something like this
http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/8921890/Car-MP3-Player-FM-Transmitter-With-SD-MMC-Card-Reader/Product.html
but not sure how good they are as i cant find any reviews, was hoping someone would be able to advise0 -
Blimey, never seen those before, worth a try, but for a tenna I'd not be expecting stunning quality...0

the veho fm transmitter for under 7 quid at ebuyer is ok but only works well on battery, when connected to the car power there is interference. The other problem is other radio stati9ons on the same frequency when driving around though i get over most of that by lowering the car antenna.
Quality is not that good but in a car with all the other noise it is not a problem. The issue is when using them on to a normal radio at home. There are some good ones about but i have found that transmitters costing 4x the price are no better than the veho. Agree that belkin ones are really not good.
You need to make sure that it does specify 'hi-fi' quality, they are available and should give the same quality as cordless headphones.Nudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0 -
Oddly enough the ones off Ebay that come from abroad and are not 'officially' licensed may give the best result. Using the EU amount of restricted power these gadgets cannot compete with the crowded airwaves when you drive about. It's silly really, I know 'cos 'by accident' I tried a £5 cheapy that came from Ebay and it flattened any exisitng signal that might have caused a reception issue... yet because it's inside a metal cage, (your car), it cannot be received outside of the car at all. Silly EU Eurocrat restrictions!
[ Edit ] BTW no issues when using car power either, completely quiet background, only the volume adjustment was a bit sensitive as mine only worked via a 3.5mm earphone socket.0
