Hi
I have recently got rid of my old laptop and given it to my niece - it had all my Itunes songs on it which I use on my ipod and I never thought about it when I gave it away.
Anyway - I am using my OH's laptop which has Itunes in it - I know if I plug my ipod in it will each for itunes and sync with her Itunes - which means all my songs will get erased -
I have downloaded songs on her itunes which I want to get on to my ipod without losing any of my songs - is it possible just to pick the songs that I want to move over as she has a lot of c*ap that I dont want !!!
Thanks

Can't you just uncheck the option to sync automatically and chose to do so manually? It's been a while since I've used iTunes, but there was an option for that..0

When you plug in your ipod, click on the "music" tab at the top, then uncheck "sync music"
That should do it."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

I did not know there was such an option....will have to look for it0

Make a back up from your niece's iTunes (File/Library/Back up to Disk) onto CD/DVD. Then import into your new laptop. Remember to deauthorise that machine for your own iTunes account.
I don't think you can import tracks selectively, but if you import it all you can then just delete what you don't want-you only have to do it once.
The 'uncheck sync' option will stop it erasing, but if you do that you will only be able to add new tracks manually. And if you lose your iPod, or the drive fails, you've lost the lot unless you niece keeps them on hers. To be safe you need a backup on your laptop, and then a new backup to CD/DVD.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
