wow we should feel so much better. As an investor, you know that any kind of investment opportunity has its risks, and investing in Stocks or Precious Metals is highly speculative. All of the content I post is for informational purposes only.0

I wonder if its the way you do the maths
Do other countries have such massive ''sick'' lists is the question? 0 -
wow we should feel so much better.
You're right - we should. We keep hearing that we are uniquely in a bad place to weather the recession and yet the figures that keep coming out demonstrate this to be an utter lie being put about by Cameron. Our unemployment levels are significantly below countries like France and germany normally, and we're shedding jobs no faster than they are - and we're a long long way behind places like Ireland and Spain.
So lets be clear - we're in a deep deep recession and its going to get nasty. But we're not the worst off.0 -
Bear in mind that the OP posting this "good news .. shouldn't we all feel great" has an income so huge they've managed to knock about £25k off their mortgage every year for the last five years .... which is a lot more than many people even earn. So it's easier to sit and say "it's not that bad at all is it".
Let them eat cake.0 -

So that changes the facts does it
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

So what? The fewer people who lose their jobs the better - the fact that unemployment isn't rising as quickly as feared is good news no matter who you are or what you earn.0 -
Any bits of news like this are Good!
But i fear that the numbers that come out in the next few months will be bad.
Things like this seem to come in blocks
You get 2-3 months of high numbers then 2-3 months of lower numbers then for some resion everyone starts laying off again and the numbers shoot up!!
Plus i feel its going to be 2012 before the numbers start to come own again.:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Were the 30,000 jobs lost with Woolies included?
If not then next quarter we could see a very big increase!0 -

Some of them will be included. About half of WWs stores plus the bulk of staff at their London and Rochdale offices had gone by Christmas, as well as the majority of their DC staff in Swindon Bedford and Rochdale. So Q4's figures will have about half of the total included in them.0 -
Whatever the ins and outs of it, and despite the fact that it is unquestionably bad that unemployment is rising, it has to be good news for everyone that it hasn't risen as much as expected - well, good news for everyone except the people on here who seem desperate to run the economy/government/country down and down at every oppportunity.0
