BT lying on their sales calls

I got a sales call from BT today.
He said
"We'll give you £1.23 off your line rental if you sign-up for online billing.
We'll also give you free caller display, free 1571,"
"I get 1571 free already", I said
"No, it costs money. and we'll register you for the Telephone Preference Service free. We'll also give you free weekend and evening calls including 0845 and 0870 numbers. It's a 12-month recurring contract"
"What does that mean, will I pay more after 12 months"
"No, it's the same price, it's fine"
After giving me a long sales spiel he started reading his long disclaimer. I don't remember the exact wording, but it basically amounted to "You are agreeing that BT will cancel your CPS service you are in a 12-month contract [for something], you can cancel, but you'll have to pay the remaining 12 months." Huh?
I was trying to get the guy off the phone because he'd been going on for about 10 minutes, and it was right at the end of the call when he was busy reading out his legal statement and I was trying to get rid of him.
It turns out the option he sold me would cost me an extra £27/month over 18185.
Basically everything he was telling me was so wonderful, i.e. Caller Display, Telephone Preference, 1571, is free anyway, he was just trying to disconnect me from 18185, and sign me up to 12 months on a BT tariff just slipped that in at the end.
Very tricky practice, because the online terms don't mention not having Carrier Preselect as well as one of the Anytime plans (I could be wrong on this), so there was no reason to do this. Is this correct?
It seems we make about 35 evening/weekend calls and 65 daytime ones, so 18185 (65 * 5p = £3.25/month) + the free Weekend/Evening package would be cheapest.

What gave you the idea he was trying to stop you useing 18185? (Its not possible to stop you using 18185. BT have to allow you access.) 18185 is not a cps service. Its an indirect access provider.0

He said so. He said 'You are agreeing to come back to BT, and we will cancel your other provider'.
Anyway, I take it I can still use 18185 even on the Evenings & Weekends package?0 -
the only disadvantage that I see to this is you cant move your line rental from BT which is why its a 12 month rolling contract .You can register with the telephone preference service (and the mailing preference service ) yourself for free .You can still use 18185 and all the other overide carriers ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0
