Saltzburg airport is only 20 mins from the city centre by bus (plus a 10 minute walk) and only cost 2.20 euros each.

Ryanair fly there from Stanstead and dublin

Oh right - why didn't you just say that ? I found your initial response a bit aggressive, although that seems to be your *style*. Thanks.

Apologies for my "style" but there is always someone on a ryanair thread whos says that the flights are not free which is wrong.. There are always free flights available when they have a free flights promo.

Its unlikely to get a city centre of note, with an airport right in the middle.Easiest one I know is florence,(pisa)which is about 45 minutes about £5 euro single train ticket.Pisa railway platform is right outside the airport.

Thank you for this information. Have booked flights for March and was going to use Terravision which is 16€ return as normally rail links are not near to the Airport:beer:

As you come out of the airport security area,to your right ,at the end of the hall you will see the signs for buying your train ticket.Join the queues (not too long ) and get your tickets there.Florence is known as Firenze,in Italian.
Don't forget to validate your ticket at the yellow machine on the small platform. You have one change on that route. It's quite simple and the trains run frequently.

THe Firenze stop is called "Firenze SMN" which is Firenze Santa Maria Novella (the name of the railway station in Florence centre.)

The change is PIsa Central (or centro?).
If you choose a hotel on a street called Via Faenza, for example, you will be able to walk from the station. Hotels in San Lorenzo or Santa Maria Novella areas are walkable and cheaper )obviously do your research)

Heres the link for the train timetable.

That's all really useful information thank you so much. We've booked a hotel near to the Duomo. The Terravision bus stopped outside the Santa Maria Novello train station also, so it's the same distance onwards, but a saving of 6€ each on the major part.:j
