Perhaps a present of your time would be the best thing, visit with a cake and goodies lay on a buffet style tea, invite family or friends,
or take her to the cinema or for lunch (maybe to a restaurant!)
Go out on a shopping spree together and see what she looks at and likes and buy it after.

  • Can i suggest getting her a "safe birth" for mothers day? That way she's helping another mum in the developing world, and its a gift that will last for the lifetime of the mother and baby concerned?

the charity concerned is quite small, so has low overheads, so its more "special" than some of the other gifts on offer from Oxfam et al.

how about a really posh bookmark - I got a real silver one for my fil for christmas. You can also get bookmarks engraved with a photo on - thats the kind of thing my mil likes anyways. I think I saw them on ebay.

or some antique/novelty book ends for her beloved books...

Some lovely ideas on here, I've decided to make some more felt bags and fill them with goodies for my mum and nan, so far I've lovely pink glass candle holders, need to get some candles to go with them, I'm going to make some bookmarks, will do some of the pouches of sweets, I've bought 2 plant pots which I'm going to get DS to help me decorate haven't decided on what flowers to put in yet though!
I may go with a nice mug and a selection of teas and coffee 2!
    :xmassmile Looking forward to December:xmassmile
  • A shameless plug but if Mum is an Old Styler (or a potential OS fan) don't forget the free to download MSE Old Style Moneysaving calendar I have made using some of the tips on the site. There are 2009 and 2010 versions available to download and print out.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

how about making a cake, biscuits or cooking her a meal - simple but very much appreciated!
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"
