Best way to pay for Swiss apartment

In the next couple of days I have to pay a deposit of £200 on an apartment that I have rented in Switzerland for a summer holiday.

The owner wants the deposit transferred direct to his Swiss account.

A bank transfer will cost me £25 from my Abbey Bank account (and another £25 for the balance later).

Are there any banks/building societies who charge significantly less or any other way of minimising the cost of transfer?

I looked at a few of the money transfer sites but they all appear to have some fees or minimum xfers required of £1,000.

I would have liked some "insurance" protection that paying by a credit card would offer, but am I right presuming that no bank transfer offers such protection.

Regards
