Couple of Car Insurance Queries

I'm trying to sort out my DS's car insurance as his internet access is intermittent.
He currently lives with his partner and as he has a company car, his partner is the main driver of the family car. The insurance is currently in his name but looking at getting quotes for the insurance to be in partner's name.
Due to an accident (or two :eek: ), he only has one years NCB. When I get quotes in his name, but with his partner as the main driver (which will be the case) they are more expensive (cheapest by about £200) than when I get quotes in his partner's name with him as a named driver.
Can I get the insurance in his partner's name but using his no claims bonus on that policy.
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. If you can provide a link to anything that confirms that ok to transfer ncb would be good too.
