Hi people

I have a fairly newish laptop which runs on vista home premium and does not have outlook express on it but windows mail.

I need to set up a new email account and it has an auto install but only for outlook express. MSN do not seem to offer outlook express as a down load anymore as they are pushing windows mail. Does any one know where I can download it safely.

Thanks in advance...you techie mentors are the donkeys danglers

Outlook Express is obsolete; Windows mail is its successor.
I can help you set up your email account using Windows Mail if you want?

Download Windows Mail Live - it supports Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and virtually every other email

Have you actually tried it to see if it works?

If not it takes two minutes to set up manually - there will be instructions of what the mail servers are etc surely?

Is it Outlook web access? Do you have VPN access? Does your IT Dept at work provide a POP3 or IMAP4 server and the relevent server IP address or server DNS address i.e mail.yourcompany.com or pop3.yourcompany.com?

I'm not sure of your questions.

This is the help page when I go into our extra net that is supposed to tell me how to set my emails up on outlook
When accessing an email account through a desktop email application such as Outlook Express®, the email application will require specific information about that email account. You can use the auto-configure options below to attempt to automatically configure your email application. If the available options are not compatible with your application, you will need to use the Manual Settings information to configure the application.
Note: IMAP email access coordinates between the server and you mail application. Messages that have been read/deleted/replied-to will show as read/deleted/replied-to both on the server and in the mail application. POP3 does not coordinate with the server. Messages marked as read/deleted/replied-to in the mail application will not show as read/deleted/replied-to on the server. This means that future downloads of your inbox or other mailboxes with POP3 will show all messages as unread.

    * Mac Mail IMAP Note: The "IMAP Path Prefix" needs to be set to INBOX otherwise Mail.app will not be able to store deleted, draft or sent mail on the server.

    Manual Settings

    Mail Server Username: mark+xxxx.co.uk
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.xxxx.co.uk
    Incoming Mail Server: (SSL) xxxx.citizenx.com
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.xxxxx.co.uk (server requires authentication) port 25
Outgoing Mail Server: (SSL) xxxxx.citizenx.com (server requires authentication) port 465
Supported Incoming Mail Protocols: POP3, POP3S (SSL/TLS), IMAP, IMAPS (SSL/TLS)
Supported Outgoing Mail Protocols: SMTP, SMTPS (SSL/TLS)

There are some auto configure links but if I click on them they do not up date my windows email
