OMP International and Dionne Warwick Concert

  • Bad news, I'm afraid. I filed a dispute with Paypal as advised with by the promoter. Paypal eventually found in my favour, but there is no money in the promoter's account, even though they told me they only deal through Paypal. So Paypal cannot pay me and has closed the dispute.
I have now asked LiveRock to either send the refund to my card, or to put it in my Paypal account, since they say they only work through this. All they need is my email address, which they have.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
  • Refund now received from credit card provider. Email received from liverock stating that the concert has been rescheduled to Nov/Dec 2009. Hope everyone is now okay.
  • Glad you getting somewhere..I'm like everhopeful in the post above but more like everdespondent now! I've flagged the issue to a couple of TV shows (BBC Watchdog) as just one as well as taking legal advice in light in light of the ole irish law (??) messages...not sure we covered that one in my degree!!
  • I too bought tickets through Paypal originally, and was asked to repay by cheque. This I did after getting a full refund through Paypal, and I received an amail from OAM saying cheque received and tickets would be sent in due course. I then had an email saying the date had been put back to Nov./Dec.
and to apply for a refund through Paypal if I needed to.
I have emailed OAM 3 times now pointing out that I payed directly to them by cheque and asking for a refund, but have had no reply. Where do I go from here? Maybe I should stick with them and ask for the money to be carried over for the new dates, or am I being too optimistic?
  • After receiving a glossy flier in my Barbican mailing for the concert at Hammersmith in July, still advertising Buy Now Pay Later and travel packages, I emailed OMP again, pointing out that they could refund to Paypal using my email address. I then got the email saying that the concert date had been moved, but only giving a month, not a day. I emailed them again, but have heard nothing.
Contacting Watchdog etc is a good idea. I paid with a debit card but I think there IS a scheme for refunds so that's another possiblity. So is giving up...trouble is, I get a bad feeling when I see pictures of Dionne now, although it's not her fault!
Still, I'm glad some people are getting money back.

There is a compensation scheme for debit card payments called 'VISA Chargeback'. Seems quite good, you have 120 days to claim.
  • My story!
    · 26 October 2008 - Concert advertised in Sunday Broadsheet - I purchase two tickets (total £138) and pay by Debit Card via Paypal.
    · 30 January 2009 - Generic email received from organiser advising that 'we may have purchased more tickets that we needed or didn't realise we hadn't paid for the ones we had ordered, so please send a cheque to ...." Hmm
    · 30 January 2009 - I email them to ask what is going on and receive a reply advising that mine we okay and I do not need to send any more money
    · 9 February 2009 - Generic email out of the blue advising that my money has been refunded (why?) and I need to send a cheque to cover the concert tickets
    · 26 February 2009 – I raise a dispute with Paypal, advising non receipt of goods. This is closed same day without notification. Basically not covered as I paid by Debit (and not Credit) card and the product wasn’t from Ebay. Starting to worry now.
    · 5 March 2009 – I email Live Rock/OMP/ETC asking where my refund is. I receive this reply We do apologise to you for this. Thankfully we have been able to solve our databse problems that were created earlier this year and are pleased to inform you that your tickets remain valid and you will recieve them by post within 4 weeks.” That wasn’t what I asked?
    · 5 March 2009 – I call my bank, who confirm that I am not covered as essentially I paid by Cash and not credit. Great.
    · 6 March 2009 – I raise an independent complaint against Paypal, Closed down again, with ‘not covered’ reason.
    · 7 March 2009 – Ridiculous email received from someone called JL Ireland, who’s email address is a .com of Live Rocks email service to customers (?). Advising they ‘they are upset at people complaining” Excuse me. This is no more than bullying. Again I have a copy.
    · 24 March 2009 – Generic email received advising concert postponed to Nov/Dec 09. No date given in that nine week window. However, and I quote If you wish to be refunded for your ticket purchases in the event that you cannot make the rescheduled show and have not already been refunded through Pay Pal please contact Pay Pal and request a full refund for your purchase.
Refunds should take approximately 28 days.
If, for whatever reason you have been unable to be refunded by Pay Pal after the aforementioned time period then please contact us and we will do our very best to assist you.
We are aware that in some very rare circumstances persons have been unable to receive their refund through Pay Pal in a timely fashion”
. This would be Paypal who don’t cover me?

    · 25 & 30 March 2009 – I have emailed them, with no response and funnily enough, no refund.

    Any ideas?

It depends a little what kind of debit card you used. There is some good information on Visa Chargeback published for free by Which? It explains what to do if you bank refuse to pay and how it works with paypal. Moneysavingexpert no longer allows links in messages but if you enter this into google you should find it:

"Chargeback on credit and Visa debit cards"

wrapit has info copied from Which? explaining the process with Maestro cards. Try googling this:

"how to make a claim under a Maestro card"

    Good luck.
  • My expereince exactly the same as the soctsmanonline. Nothing but being fobbed off. I did receive a refund for one ticket and they then deducted it again! Paypal say I'm out of time but why would any of us claim if we didn't know what was going to happen? I keep emailing with no response. There is nothing on the Dionne Warwick webiste that shows any concerts in Europe for all of 2009. Someone's making a lot of money out of us. Where to next?

Having the same trouble as everyone else with this company.
Have tried a dispute with paypal, and according to them it doesn't fall into their guidlines, and there was me thinking i had protection :rotfl:.
So, onwards, two e-mails later and still no reply from them.
After having contacted the Alexandra Palace direct and to be told the concert is not going ahead, these people STILL, have the barefaced cheek to be selling these concert tickets, does this not amount to theft??
If anybody on this forum has any suggestions or if they have contacted Watchdog about this matter then please let me know as i wish to take this further, THEY ARE NOT HAVING MY MONEY!!!!
