Problem with Google Bookmarks

I have been using Google Bookmarks on my home PC and office PC for a year or so and find them really useful. But just lately the Bookmarks system is not remembering my login user details. Every time I fire up IE7 it makes me log in, even if I tick the box which says to remember me on this computer.
Does anybody have any ideas please? I have not knowingly changed any settings on my two PCs, unless perhaps a Microsoft update has changed something?

Browser not storing cookies? In firefox, go tools, options. Click on the privacy tab and see if the checkbox about cookies is ticked. If it's not, then tick it. If it is click on exceptions and see if google is listed there.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

Thanks for your quick reply Timbim. I am running IE7 on both PCs, I have just checked the settings on my home PC and it is set to accept all cookies.0

I have the same problem
It started some time ago, then worked OK for a while, now it's started again

Yes it's weird. Other sites still recognise my user name and password, it's just Google Bookmarks that are playing up.0

I've been having a big problem with Google Toolbar slowing down and crashing IE. This was really annoying as I used Google Bookmarks all the time-the only feature I really used. So I've exported my Google Bookmarks to IE Favourites, then placed the entire folder in the Links Bar in IE, so my Google Bookmarks are in exactly the same place they were, but Google Toolbar is disabled and IE is much more stable. To export your Google bookmarks you need to go to 'manage bookmarks' (in Google Toolbar) then save them to your computer as a .BMK file. Make a new folder in Favourites (e.g. 'Google Bookmarks'), then import the file to this folder in IE Favourites, and drag the entire folder to the Links Bar.
I think Google are having a few issues with the Toolbar at the moment.
Hope this makes sense, and helps.0 -
I have now found out that there is a general widespread problem with Google Bookmarks, and that users are constantly having to sign in

It appears to have been caused by a Microsoft Defender update. I can't find any further information as to when this may be put right so I thought I'd look around for alternatives to Google Bookmarks. I started looking at Delicious but I didn't find it all that easy to use. Are there any other options out there?0 -
Thanks for the info on 'why'
It's possible to create an Internet Explorer page of your Google Bookmarks:
Bookmarks, Manage all, Tools, Export as bookmarks.
Save it to deskop - then double click to open a clickable list of all your bookmarks.0 -
Yes thanks for that Garetha, but the reason I like the Google Bookmarks is because I can keep one set of bookmarks/favorites on any PC with an internet connection. It's much easier than exporting/importing on each PC I use.0

I find defender next to useless
Maybe consider uninstalling it? (Assuming you have good protection to cover):idea:0 -
I think I have fixed this problem now. I uninstalled my Google toolbar (version 5) and downloaded and installed the latest toolbar (version 6) and it all seems to work fine again.0
