Time limit to claim

I have started a claim using the template letter against Barclays for mis-sold PPI on an endowment policy.

Today I received an initial response, part of which states ;

'I regret to inform you that I believe your complaint falls outside of our scope for investigation as, where a complaint relates to an alleged breach of duty outside the last six years, it is considered time barred under the statute of limitations. As your policy started in April 1992 it is considered time barred.'

Is this the bank just trying it on ? A quick search of this and the FOS websites leads me to believe that as I have only recently become aware of the mis-selling (via this site and the TV show) I still may have a claim.

Is it worth pursuing and hows best to proceed, use the second letter template or go straight to the FOS ombudsman ? I have been paying £12 rising to £14 p/m for the last 17 years, and they're still taking the payments !!

I am sure someone will be along to respond to you shortly but regarding this actual matter on endowment policies I really do not know, however, why don't you ring the Financial ombudsman service who should be able to clarify this for you. Then take it from there.

Regarding the FOS I know every year with these complaints, the volumes of these actual PPI complaints are getting higher by the thousands.

Did you not request for fast tracking hun?

Hopefully you should hear soon and get in touch with the FOS now and again, say every 2 weeks just to check on the update, a quick email and/or quick telephone call, good luck hun and fingers crossed.;)
