Hi there, Im currently at university and park my car down a little side street with no double yellow lines, I have had this week a notice put underneath my windscreen saying that they are going to be painting lines there tomorrow so I can no longer park there, firstly can they just do this, and also what is likely to happen if I just leave my car there?

1)Why not?Think you are quite lucky to get the heads up before a ticket. Worth checking in a couple of days to see its been done and not just a resident playing games.
2) It could possibly be towed as obstructing the council line painters.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
They can put yellow lines down if a Traffic Regulation Order has gone through due process and has been sealed. Normally a notice is erected within the street (usually tied to a lamp post warning of the date work is to commence. If you park and there and no cones or no sign is visible then they should not be able to penalise you as when you parked you had not contravened any contravention.0

Yes, don't be surprised to receive a bill for the repainting as you were politely warned.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

The OP hasn't said that he DID park there.0 -
Due to the number of pictures of the 206 in the OP's photobucket I think we can safely say that it is theirs.0

At least there's a fair chance other drivers would get a bill as well, judging by the gaps.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

You were lucky not to have two yellow lines on your motor !!!It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

Those lines don't look finished to me.
Can someone who knows the regs give an opinion?0
