ordered my bf wii fit from argos, chose to have it delivered this morning because i knew i'd be in.
delivery slot was 7am - 1pm. so i got up at half 6 and spent six hours pottering about listening for the doorbell. five past one and no delivery. i rang argos - the parcel was on the van, but he must be running late, she said. i had a two o clock lecture which i considered not going to but eventually decided i might stay at home and argos man still might not come! and that would be even more annoying. so went to lecture, came back at 3:30 to find (surprise surprise) a note on the mat saying they'll redeliver tomorrow morning. except i won't be in tomorrow morning, because i'll be at uni! and going to bf's on thursday.
but here's the bit that gets me - i rang home delivery network, and they said that altho argos give a delivery slot of 7am to 1pm, their drivers work til 7pm. it's not their fault argos told me it'd be before 1pm, she implies, as hdn never promised that. if their drivers work til 7pm, can i have it redelivered this afternoon, i ask? no, because they have no way of contacting their drivers.
so no present on his birthday. and i wont see him again for weeks anyway.

home delivery network normally have no problems with delivering to a nreighbour. What I would do is leave a note on the door and leave it to "courier" then just ask them to deliver it to a neighbour but to leave you a card saying they have done so.Nice to save.0 -

Of course they can contact the drivers! I've even got my driver's phone number so I can ring and see where he is if I've booked a collection!"There is a light that never goes out"0

"Got legs aint yer!"
isn't exactly helpful.
it's out of stock in shops, so i bought it online. i chose a time slot when i KNEW i would be in, and they missed it. it's not like royal mail where i could go and pick it up from the sorting office - they HAVE to redeliver.0 -
ring them, tell them how much inconvience they have caused, you should get your delivery fee back. if they cant keep to a specified time slot, maybe they should stop giving them! ive had so many problems with argos that i dont use them anymore0

She did.
Ya shuda gone to specsavers, dave.;)
Seriously, of course they can contact drivers. OH is a driver (not for argos:D) and even 25 years ago they were contactable - so I don't believe that when we have mobiles, pagers, ipods, blackberries and blueteeth that a delivery company chooses to have no contact.
Whether they actually want to bother is another matter.
Apple's couriers messed me about recently - however, a quick call to Apple and the parcel was at my workplace within the hour. Argos could do that. If they wanted to.0 -
OP its not the end of the world, just re arrange for the item to be redelivered, im of the opinion that when deliuvery says between 7am and 1pm that th item will be delivered bwteen these times,0

this company is utter tripe and run by their own rules, which they make up as they go along. cancel the item with argos and recoup any postage you paid for the item.0
