i tried this one subsequent to the recommendation on today's This Morning. however, it is an american site and as such i couldn't put in my full area code or number where prompted. i think the sites that martin has mentioned previously are adequate for us in the U.K.Thomas Jefferson: "When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on."
Woody Allen: "If only God would give me some clear sign! Like making a large deposit in my name at a Swiss bank". :think:0 -
Oh is it i did wonder when it said only enter 3 digits for the area code and 7 for the rest of the number so i just left the first 0 off the area code to see if it worked:)
Maybe this is the British site to use then?

I don't know if this works. I'm just waiting for the confirmation email. But this place does the same thing.
It drives me through the roof those tele marketing calls.

lol you beat me to it.
And this is a free service.
I just recieved my activation email. All seems good. Can take up to 28 days to activate. If after that you still recieve tele marketing calls you can complain.
Hopefully this won't stop people like my credit card company calling me.Debt Free - Go Me0 -
I seem to be getting more and more marketing calls lately and am getting fed up with them so hope it works:)

We've also been getting more lately as well, and its always when i get home from work, or if I'm in the shower.
*shakes fist*
I hope it works to.Debt Free - Go Me0 -
I have been on http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/ for quite a while now & its virtually wiped out the calls,i still get the odd marketing call which are always of a far east origin.I adopt a pro-active response to these,"can i speak to mr x?"i reply "just one moment i shall get him" i then place the phone by the tv speaker & leave it for a while then say down the phone "just one minute he is just coming".If they are STILL on the line(15-20mins has been known) i then get an old refs whistle & give a quick blast down the phone,it always makes me feel good

I am sure you already know this, but just in case:
Be aware that registering with the TPS does not prevent 'Market Research' calls i.e. telephone questionnaires etc., as opposed to 'Marketing/Selling' calls. I know this as I used to work in a callcentre doing market research calls and we used a computer-based system which used 'random digit dialing'. Such calls do not have to screen out those numbers registered with the TPS.
I have stopped doing the job now anyway, but I used to frequently get through to people who were very angry at receiving such calls because they were registered with the TPS and thought that it would stop them.
There seems to be no simple way to avoid market research calls, but the caller is obliged to remove/delete the persons telephone number if requested, and I always used to do this. However, it will not prevent your number being 'randomly generated' again!!!!!!!!0 -
Say to them:
Sorry, too Busy to talk now... You could call back later. How about the Sixth Friday of the Month0 -
I find that being ex-directory (from the printed and telephone directories), being registered with TPS and FPS (fax preference service) and not putting my telephone number into any online forms tends to do the trick.
I get no calls at all other than those people I give my number to :-)0
