Mortgage Or Loan?

I'm a FTB and need to borrow 30k max to buy a house.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of a mortgage or loan?

    A mortgage is a loan secured upon the property.

    It'll certainly be cheaper than an unsecured loan and probably cheaper than a secured loan.

    Was looking recently and £5k seemed to be the smallest mortgage available to buy a residential property ;)
