we did. and we survived we just didn't splurge grotesque amounts on 'carp' that we don't need :rolleyes: we had a great time, and that costs nothing.

we'd rather go for longer, and let the kids have more memories, than take ridiculous amount of spending money and go for a shorter time as it happens we can't afford a holiday of any kind now for at least 3 years, as we're trying to sort our finances out, so we're glad we went for a longer time

we figured as long as we had our food covered (which we did - h/b) then it didn't matter that we ran out. in fact, we came home with half of what we went with and didn't even TRY to scrimp on anything

Thanks for this thread its made me look at Disney again with different options, just looking at Davy Crockett now rather than Sequoia Lodge and the half board option and its looks like it might be a goer! Brownie points for me!!!!

Went to Disneyland with my parents a few years ago and they had food vouchers, could spend up to a fixed price in certain eateries around the park. Is that the same as half board?

If it is I reccomend eating in the park not the hotel, because from what I remember the food is much better value in the park. My dad made us order extra courses to spend them all!!!

We have stayed at Disney a few times - but last time my husband put up a protest and we stayed in a lovely little village a bus ride away - he could convince himself he wasn't having anything to do with disney at all and jsut in Paris for the week!!!

Yes, fill up on breakfast! take refillable water bottles with you and also little dried fruit or biscuit snacks - they do check your bags when you go into the parks but I've taken dried fruit/snacks and because they are sealed they have got through ok - not sure of the policy but this is my experience..

For lunch we have always come out of the park and into the row of restaurants in the village - much better value - even a Maconalds can keep you going and because you get your hand stamped and can go back in - macdonalds or rainforest etc can be a nice little strole away for food then go back.

Buy baguettes from the Train Station between the Disney Village and the actual parks.

They are cheaper than anywhere in the parks - and quite nice too !!

If you are driving, fill your car boot with drinks/crisps/snacks for the kids, then take a few out each day in a rucksack or something.

All that sort of stuff costs a fortune inside the park.

If you are not driving..............double the amount of cash you were thinking of taking !!

yeah, some people just starve !!

No, some people budget for their lunch and don't steal it from the breakfast table. Ever wondered why the servers put out less and clear away quickly, yes to stop this theft.
