BT Fake phone call

Just something to keep an eye out for..
My Mum's elderly friend had a call yesterday supposedly from BT, they said she owed them £71 which they were happy to take payment for right away with a card. She said she knew she did not owe them money and refused to pay. They got quite nasty and said they would cut off her phone with immediate effect.
She still didn't pay up, AFAIK the phone is still working..

Not AFAIK, I only heard the story 2nd hand but she knew she didn't owe them anything - even if she did I'm sure they would have sent a bill, they don't usually demand instant payment over the phone.0
