  • What Operating System are you using? If it's XP the virtual memory will right itself.

With regard to the speed start by doing a disc clean-up and a defragmementation of the hard drive.
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

How much physical memory (Ram) do u currently have?? Increasing Ram can often remedy low virtual memory problems, and also is one of the easiest ways to speed up the machine:)

  • Check in My Computer how much space is left on your hard drive, you may need to free some up to get your computer working correctly..
  • Okay Pearl,do the following (you will need to do this each time you switch on your computer but it only takes seconds)

Go to where it says on the pop up "click here".
It opens another box, look where it says "More option," then click the cancel button, the problem will disappear until the next time you use your computer but at least it wont keep popping up every 10 minutes or so.

Next up,like Reggie says,do a disk clean up and defrag.

Go to Programs/accesories,System tools, disk clean up.

Also download this program to clean your old files you wont need any more,it is one of the best on the net.

It is free, and it is brilliant, simple as that.

There are loads of other helpful sites that can help with computer problems, one of the best is http://www.download.com/windows/ check out the popular downloads, more so number 7, Malwarebytes,if your computer is hit by a virus, that one will almost certainly shift it for you.
  • Thanks to everyone for replying i will try everything you have all advised me to do + will let you know how i get on Thanks again everyone Pearl
