What are these insects?

My loft is full of tiny little dead insects. They're kind of pale orange in colour, with little round gauze-type wings, one each side, only about 3-4mm across including wings. I also notice them collecting in my garage. I never see them flying.

Does anyone know what they are? I'm a bit concerned that when they're alive they're eating my rafters, or something... Or does anyone know where to look to find out?

The back end of my house was covered in these kind of insects when I first moved in here. I dont think the previous owner was particularly house proud. I had the council pest control come round and fumigate the place for £20 and then I had to follow it up by bleaching the entire area. Yuk this is making me itch.

  • Hi FrostSpice, my partner reckons that what you're describing sounds a little like the woodworm fly/beetle, perhaps the link below might help you identify it:

If it is woodworm you'll need to get it treated. Goodluck.
