Help please - Unauthorised charges.

I need some advise please.
I have a current account with Natwest (which I have haven't used for over a year) and I have inoccured 'Unauthorized overdraft' charges of £28 every month for the past 14 months. This was due to me becoming overdrawn by £15, 14 months ago. The total I owe Natwest is approx £480!! (all except £15 due to charges!)
I haven't been able to afford to pay back the charges from the beginning and now I am getting letters from Natwest reclaiming the debt. I rang Natwest and a guy on the phone said that he would clear the debt if I would pay £300 upfront. I couldn't afford this upfront and I have told him that I maybe able to pay this on the 25th Feb when my wage comes through.
Is there anyone I could seek advise from as I feel that paying Natwest £480 in charges is extremely unfair, considering that I have only gone overdrawn once!!
PS - they also charged me £30 for the letter they sent to me!
Advise would be appreciated.
