Utilities warehouse - New tenancy

Hi,
We are moving into a rented house, so far we were in our own house and could choose which utility company we wanted etc...
The house we are moving in is in Tewkesbury, it has been empty for about 2 or 3 months. Just got a letter from the EA, which is also the managing company since the LL lives abroad, they have stated that we "must compplete the Utility Warehouse Application form or sign our disclaimer stating why you have not chosen to take this option".
This is the first I have heard of this, is this legal? Are they making money off our back from this? I seem to remember reading somewhere that Utility Warehouse were not that competitive and were something of a pyramid scheme?
Any thoughts / advise is greatly appreciated.
Anne

i would sign the disclaimer saying its your right to go with whoever you choose to supply the property with gas & electric and will be going with teh most competitive pricing company.
or you could just tell them you are not signing anything as if its not in the tennancy then tough, also i would class that as a restrictive covennant as it is an unfair clause.Debt free 3 years early :j
Savings for house deposit - very healthy
Cash back earnt so far £14.570 -
Then sign the disclaimer & write what you've put here as to why0
