Crayon on cream upholstery

Hello! This is for a friend whose daughter has been using one of their posh damask chairs as a canvass..! Apart from WD40 (which I'm guessing will stain the cloth) does anyone know of a way of removing crayon from her cream armchair?!

Thanks very much
Dan

This could be a bit of a challenge. We know that hairspray will get crayon off wallpaper (spray on wipe off) so maybe if you sprayed on and then gently dabbed (NOT rubbed) with kitchen roll - it might lift bit by bit.

There's also the warm iron trick - again use some absorbent paper or towel over the marks and lightly iron with a warm iron. Not too hot - just enough to soften.melt the wax in the crayon.

Finally there might be some colour left. Dye sticks or dry cleaning sticks might clear that up.

Get her to try a baby wipe, they can be pretty good at removing things like that!!!!!
  • If its wax crayons you should be able to put a few sheets of kitchen roll over the mark and use a warm iron over it the kitchen roll should sock up the wax.
    Hope this helps. :p

Methylated spirit might help if it has stained, but try an area out of the way just to test!!

Thank you all so far - I will pass on these suggestions and any others you come up with :)

Oh and I'll ask whether it's a wax crayon.
