Credit file after re-claiming Charges?

Hi I successfully re-claimed 1300 in unfair charges from Nat west 2 years ago. The account went into default due to the charges that were subsequently re-claimed.
On my Credit file it is listed as Default- satisfied and Experian have advised I contact Nat west to get the default status removed.
Will Natwest do this for me? also Is there a letter template for it?? Thanks in advance Hayley.

Why would they change the status? You defaulted. You got the charges back but the default remains.
  • hi

if it can be proven that without the charges there would have been no default it is reasonable for such reports to be corrected. obviously if this isnt the case you cant have correct data changed.

Thanks it was the case thet the default was a result of charges on the account and I was hoping it could be removed but I rang Natwest and they don't want to know :(

    Thanks anyway.
  • hi

i had a similar thing with my wifes mbna credit card report. they refused so we complained to the FOS. MBNA agreed to remove it as a gesture of goodwill which has now been done.

I would suggest you put down all the facts showing the default is entirely due to the charges and send it as an official complaint. if the bank still refuses you can then go onto the FOS.
