British School of Motoring is in the Birmingham area and their driving instructors are good.

If you do a google search: driving instructors, birmingham - loads come up. I have no idea how good they are. I know that BSM are quite good because they got my ex through his test.
Why is it a female instuctor that she is after? There's not many of them about and to be honest I can remember when I was learning to drive, I first had a female instructor and when I took my test, I failed on reversing. I changed instructor and had a man who had actually taught my original instructor and he told me that it was no wonder I had failed on the reversing because she didnt know how to reverse :eek0 -
I learnt with Paige Chamberlain from A Licence 2 Drive - she's fantastic, and although I'm unsure whether they cover Handsworth Wood, it would certainly be worth a phone call - I know that they can cover a large area
I never felt stressed out with her, and never had any of the problems some of my friends had with their instructors. She never cancelled any lessons, was really reasonable to deal with, and would let me cancel lessons if I needed to with 24 hours notice at no penalty.
I was really lucky as she was recommended to me, and never had any problems at all (even when I was being thick and having mental blocks, she was really great and encouraging).
I don't know the stats, but would be amazed if she didn't have a high success rate, and I never felt like I was being held back to get more lesson time out of me (which was a big worry) and I could see my progression in each lesson.
(PS, I know this sounds like a bit of a love-in, but I have absolutely no vested interest in AL2D, but just think they were great!)
Edit to add they also use only Mini's which are great to drive, and a bit cooler than a Micra!

Female instructor, just a personal preference!0 -
this independent firm has wide coverage , but are based in Birmingham so guess they have more local people .. son uses them, would be surprised if they don't have any local female instructors- £56.00 5 lessons( when booked as part of 12)
