I have been made aware today through my local hospital of a phone scam .
DO NOT return any missed calls on your mobile starting with 0709 this incurs a £50 a MINUTE charge .
This is perfectly legal at the moment so please beware :

And which mobile phone company is this then? 0709 calls via BT cost between 32 pence and 50 pence per minute.

I would suggest that this is just a variation on the 809 urban myth, http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/scams/809.htm which was possible in the USA, but not here.

As far as I can see, the highest charge that can be made is £5.04 per minute (an 09997 number)
