Emulsion on a Bath Panel

As roddydogs says (!), not a great idea using emulsion for this job.
Use paint meant for wood..gloss or satinwood. Sand it down, paint with a primer, allow to dry, paint with undercoat, allow to dry, top coat with your gloss or satinwood paint (i usually paint two coats of satinwood on our woodwork and prefer oil-based paint to water-based).
For a better finish sand gently with "between coats" sandpaper (a very fine grade sandpaper) between each coat. Before each coat dust the surface with a damp lint free cloth or a sticky cloth designed for the job (can get them in some diy stores).
As always with painting take your time in the preparation to get a better finish. Decent brushes help too.
Hope that helps
