Can you still use Royal Mail's Airsure?

I've just heard from my Mum, who wanted to send a parcel to the US using Airsure. When she got to the Post Office, they told her that she had to use International Signed For instead as they didn't do Airsure anymore.

The RM website still has all the info for Airsure, so I just wondered what's going on. Has anyone else had similar probs?

How heavy was the parcel? Airsure is only avaiable if the parcel is under 2KG.

It was only a light parcel. A few hundred grams at most.

Yes, I had the same problem just before Christmas at my local PO. I asked for AirSure and the PO lady told me I need to use International Signed For. I couldn't be bothered arguing, but I think she was basically just ill-informed. Try using a bigger PO.

I know RM stopped their Swiftair service (last year?), so maybe somebody got confused? Unfortunately she can't use another PO so I will have to let her know that Airsure if definately still available so she can set them straight. How frustrating - I know she wanted that parcel to get there ASAP.
