Tip and Cheats on This Morning

Just seen a piece on This Morning showing you how to avoid calls to companies insistant on you pressing lots of buttons and not being allowed to speak to a human being!

Apologies if this is either in the wrong place or has been posted before.

Try https://www.gethuman.com/uk

There was also another website https://www.donotcall.gov which you can register yourself to stop getting unwanted sales calls - works on some but not all companies.

Hope it helps!

So you've just registered someone with the American area code 208!

The researcher's in for the chop then - recommending an (irrelevant) American site for UK consumers!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

So are people giving instructions on US phone numbers they have no relationship with? I'd be surprised if it works, as the Americans surely have a better requirement for information protection than this. With any luck they won't send the confirmation email to a UK ISP.

I think I've seen that the original idea for navigating the menu systems was from an American as well. Perhaps people have been a bit careless in adopting his ideas without a bit more research.

    208 is Idaho

Unfortunately, they probably will - if my experiences of receiving numerous mortgage offers from American companies when I had .net.uk and a .co.uk e-mail addresses are anything to go by.
