Any idea how much a Ford focus front wing would costs to remove bubbled paint/rust and respray, its metallic green?

I look after the damn car wash, polish etc but rust came through last year from inside just above the wheel needs attention

I have no idea how much it costs, but don't want to be ripped off

Thanks

  • it all depends on how badly the rust has set in.
sometimes its easier and cheaper in the long run to replace the whole wing, and also to get a better job.
pattern wings shouldnt be too expensive.
it might be even easier and cheaper to find a car in a scrap yar with a good wing in the same colour as yours and replace it, no painting required.

    Thanks for that goldspanners

I found a supplier on net that does a new panel for £40+ I assume postage on top

I would do it myself by metallic paint is hard to get.

I have messed around filling wings in the past and really is only worth it if you are going to punt it onto some unsuspecting soul.

I would have thought you will get away with somewhere in the region of £150 - £200 and it wouldn't be that much cheaper to fill etc. Paint is the expensive element in the equation.

the focus wings are bolted on iirc
so nip down to the scrappy and you can a pick a good one up for sub £30

    Thanks for the help.

I rang the only scrap merchant in my area about 3 weeks ago for a drivers mirror for the car as it broke off and they couldn't help me for that

The car has been like this for a while, the bubble is getting worse, and it seems to be coming from within the wing

I tried to get it done last year, went to Halfords to get some paint mixed as they dont stock that paint on the shelves. They said to go to local Ford dealer up road who stock it.

I asked the guy there and he took a look and said they have a guy who can do it as they do jobs for them. When I rang the guy he said he will only do trade, I even said I pay upfront but he said "no"

So I will have to go to a body shop. I also have a few other little bits here and there around the back, on very small but I may as well get them done.
