another update on my dog

Hallo again everyone

Was sorry to see my last thread locked but wanted to let you know how she was doing.

She's had a good weekend, she's eating ok, but her food has to be really mashed up. I;m crushing the tablets for her but hiding them in her food didnt work as she ate her food but left the timy crushed up tablets.........How does she do that  so.....and please don't berate me for this but the way I'm thinking is any way to get her to take the tablets, so am giving them to her in a teaspoon with a wee bit of jam.

The lump.......cyst/tumour??? on her throat doesnt seem to be getting any smaller and we've noticed that when she's lying down, she seems to be lying awkwardly, possibly to make it easier for her. She doesnt seem to be in any pain or uncomfortable otherwise and she's got a wee bit of sparkle back in her eyes

Thankyou for all your replies that I received im the other thread and thankyou also the PM's I received

We go back to the vet on Friday after this prescription runs out and then we'll just have to wait and see

  • does she catch and gulp down treats? If so try wrapping a tablet in a piece of cheese slice (kreaft slice sort of thing) or in the middle of a lump of dairylea cheese triangle and chuck it her, she will swallow it without chewing!

Dairylea- works every time. Just stick the tablet in the middle of half a triangle. Is so sticky that it will stick to the roof of her mouth causing her to gulp it down, swallowing the tablet before she can work it out :)

She loves cheese and I tried putting the crushed up bits on a slice of cheese but she spat that out.......Never thought about the cheese triangle though. I could push the wee steroid tablets into that, I'd still have to break the larger tablets up though......You want to see the size of them, Even I'd find it difficult trying to swallow them !!!!!

Our local shop opens at 7am tomorrow, Cheest triangles it is. Good Idea Thanks

  • I am really glad she is feeling a bit better - as long as she has quality of life, and is happy just try and enjoy the time you have with her, there are no guarantees in life, and no one can predict the future, so just enjoy the moment.
  • Unfortunately she had a very bad night last night and was really struggling to breathe. We had to make the decision this morning to have her put to sleep. It was very peaceful and she just seemed to slip away.

    We'll miss her though

So sorry, run free brave Doggy RIP
  • Aw no ..... I am so so sorry to hear she's gone, but you can look back in time to come and think well, when it was her time, we knew and we helped her ... if she was getting breathing difficulties then at least you know for certain you did the right thing at the right time for her ...

Will be thinking about you both xxxx
